A word from the chair

We have now completed our second full term as joint chair, having taken on the role on a temporary basis early 2006. With this in mind we arrived at this years' AGM with an irrational optimism, desperately hoping that some innocent fool would appear and offer to take on the role. As it turned out there was clearly a conspiracy afoot. As well as being voted back in, the committee also decided to extend the term to two years. Whilst still trying to figure out how that happened, we are now looking forward to planning events for two years! Richard Parry has agreed to continue as treasurer and we now have a new secretary, Mike Whitehouse. Along with a good sized committee, thing look promising for the future.

On a serious note, we would like to thank absolutely everyone who has helped the hall in any way over the last year and hope we can count on you all again in the future. We are going to see the return of regular events, and there are new ones planned!

Thanks again. Please use this site for your comments or ideas.

Plans for the future - it is hoped that, subject to listed buildings consent, we can start to make some improvements to the interior of the hall, particularly to the kitchen and bar areas. The kitchen is tired to say the least and needs bringing up to standard, and the bar desperately needs more space. We are also having problems with the main floor, which needs a new harder surface. We would welcome the help of anyone who has the the skills to help us. Please get in touch.

(Update Nov 08 - Officers from Kirklees Council have visited the hall and are looking at the possibilities. We are waiting a report from them.)

As well as focusing on the village hall itself, it would be nice to be able to use this site as a village forum and news page. If anyone is involved in any activities in and around the village we would be delighted to let people know.
