FRIDAY NIGHT WAS GALA NIGHT
What a great night! Upperthong Gala did it again! For the first time ever the event was completely sold out, with people scrambling for the few spare tickets available at the beginning of the evening. All the feedback we have received so far has been positive (except for the size of the bar - that was a mistake - must get it sorted for next year!) and the night was fantastic.
Freddie and the band came on stage at ten, and quickly got the crowd on their side. Their two sets included all the favourites and the place rocked. The evening was finished as always with Gary on the disco.

Saturday
For the second year the Cricket Club ran tournaments throughout the day, serving food and drinks. The weather stayed dry and the day was another big success.
This was followed by the Saturday family disco, where mums and dads can enjoy a drink whilst the kids can enjoy the music. The main feature was of course the choosing of the 2008 Gala Queen. This year the winner was 11 year old Ellie Williams, with her attendants Mollie Taylor and Olivia Wilkinson.
Sunday
It rained, didn't it? Just like it always does. We really are lucky to have a loyal set of residenents who support us whatever the weather can throw at us. To be fair, we did manage to get a few more thing out on to the field than last year, and the races, welly wanging and climbing wall survived, plus the bouncy castles for a while.
Most things however went into the marquee and the afternoon went well. There was a mixture of stalls from the schoool as well as trade stands.
Entertainment was provided by the school choir and morris dancers, plus a demonstration from our own freestyle karate club.
